How to Set up LDAP
The purpose of this article is to provide a step-by-step guide on how to set up LDAP for bitB.
Instructions
Create an AD group for bitB Users
The below group’s set up is not specific, please adjust accordingly to your organization's policies.
Note: You do not have to create a new group, an existing one may be used as well.
In the bitB Client, navigate to Admin - LDAP Settings
A window will appear for you to enter the IP of your domain controller and the group created or chosen in Step 1. You may add multiple groups that are separated by a semicolon.
Note: Leaving the LDAP Allow Group(s) field blank will allow all users
Once LDAP is configured, users in the selected group can log into bitB using their AD credentials. The authentication is passed through to Active Directory.
Users are assigned the default role of User.
bitB Roles
New bitB users are assigned the default User role. You can the bitB user role in Admin>Manage Users dialog. Here are the bitB user roles:
User
The standard User role cannot see the Manage section on the Device tab, the Admin tab or Manage Device IPs, or Rediscover Devices in the Device List
Admin
The Admin has access to all features in bitB.
Network Operator
The Network Operations role can add/remove (Manage Device IPs) and Rediscover Devices in bitB. The Network Operations role would not see or have access to the Admin tab.
