  1. Download the bitBServerInstaller

  2. Execute the bitBServerInstaller.exe

  3. If you are an administrator on the local system, you will be prompted to allow the application to make changes to the local system.

  4. If you are not an administrator on the local system, you will receive the same prompt, but you will need to enter administrator credentials to continue.

  5. The Installer will start and display the End-User License Agreement dialog.

  6. The setup wizard collects information about the system.

  7. The Prerequisites dialog is shown. The bitB Server setup can use a local or remote SQL Server installation. The default is to install SQL Server 2017 Express if there is no local SQL Server. You can uncheck SQL Server Express 2017 if you are using a remote SQL Server installation. Note: Uncheck Visual C++ Redistribute. That is no longer needed for bitB Server.

  8. Click Next at the Welcome to the bitB Server Setup Wizard

  9. Local Server is the default selection. You Can select Network Server to use a remote SQL Server installation.

  10. Click Install to begin the installation.

  11. bitB IConfigures Windows features to support the bitB Server

  12. bitB Installs and Configures Internet Information Services (IIS). A bitB API Website is created. The bitB Client will connect to the bitB API server using a secure connection on TCP Port 443.

  13. If the bitB Server installation is successful, you will see the Completing the bitB Server Setup Wizard dialog with an option to show the log. The log is not important if the installation was successful.

  14. Now that the bitB Serer install was successful, you will need to initialize the bitB API Server. Open the Start menu and select Server Manager.

  15. When IIS Manager is ready to run you will see IIS show under All Servers.

  16. IIS now appears in Server Manager

  17. Open the Tools menu and select Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager

  18. Once IIS Manager opens, expand the server to show the bitBAPI site.

  27. Download the bitBInstaller

  28. Next, execute the bitBInstaller.exe

    The Installer will start display the Welcome to the prerequisite's setup wizard screen.
  30. Click Next to view the prerequisites list.

  31. bitB requires Microsoft SLQ Server or SQL Server Express.  Press Next to have the bitBInstaller install SQL Server Express.
    Note: MS SQL Server Express 2017 is installed for Windows 10 systems.
    You can also choose to install Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.  It is not required but can be used to perform maintenance on the bitB database or to execute queries against the database.
  32. Click Next to install the prerequisites

  33. The Microsoft SQL Server Express installation takes approximately 35 minutes to complete.  During the SQL Server install, a command prompt window will open during the SQL Server installation.  Nothing needs to be done.  The window will close once MS SQL Server Express is installed.
    Now that Microsoft SQL Server is installed you can install the bitB application.
    you will need your bitB/2Checkout license code.  Your name and organization will be filled in by default.  Enter your license code and press Next.
  34. bitB will be installed in Program Files\QoS Networking\bitB

  35. Click Next to continue
  36. This dialog is used to configure the MS SQL Server settings.  The default is Trusted Connection and should work for all installations where the user has local admin privileges on the local system.  For information on SQL Server Authentication, see Installation advice and tips

  37. Click Next to continue
  38. The bitB installer will attempt a connection to the Microsoft SQL Server.

  39. If the Microsoft SQL Server is detected and accessible, you will see the next screen
  40. Skip to step 24

  41. If Microsoft SQL Server is not detected or is not accessible, you will see the next screen
  42. Click OK.

  43. The screen will return to the Configuring SQL Connection screen.  You will need to enter a valid Microsoft SQL Server and instance before advancing to the next screen.
  44. If no Microsoft SQL Server is available, you will need to cancel the installation and Install Microsoft SQL manually and rerun the bitB installation.

  45. Once Microsoft SQL Server is installed, the bitB Installer will configure bitB.

    You can uncheck the Show Log checkbox and click Finish to complete the bitB installation.
    You will now have a bitB shortcut on your desktop.  bitB and SQL Server shortcuts are added to the left side of the Start MenuNow select the Browse 443 (https) option to open an Internet Explorer session to the bitBAPI website.

  46. The bitB Server uses a locally signed certificate. When IE opens, select Go on to the webpage (not recommended)

  48. If the bitB Service has started properly and the website is up and running, you will see the API Running message.
